The American Cancer Society will undertake its largest research project in years, Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3), is seeking 300,000 participants across the county to be a part of this study to help researchers understand the genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that cause or prevent cancer. The goal — ultimately, to save lives.
The study is open to anyone between the ages of 30 and 65 who has never been diagnosed with cancer. Enrollment takes 30-60 minutes where participants will be asked to complete a comprehensive survey, have their waist measured and give a small blood sample. Upon completion of enrollment, the ACS will send periodic follow-up surveys.
Residents in the Okaloosa and Walton County area can take part in this study. Sign up at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast during CPS-3 enrollment from 7-10:30 a.m. March 14 on the 2nd floor atrium. Make an appointment at wwww.cancer.org/cps3florida and select North Florida and Sacred Heart on the Emerald Coast.
