Applications for Destin Youth Council
The City of Destin is now accepting applications for the Destin Youth Council. The deadline to apply is April 30. Applicants must live within the city limits of Destin and must currently be between the grades of 9-11. Destin Woman's Club will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20 indoors at Grace Lutheran Church, 4325 Commons Drive in Destin. There will be new clothes, slightly used clothes, rugs, furniture, antiques, collectibles, tools, sporting goods, toys, books, etc. All proceeds help to support the Destin Woman’s Club Family Fund serving the needs of families in Okaloosa and Walton counties. The Destin Library will temporarily be closed to the public Saturday, April 20, as staff and volunteers shift approximately 35,000 volumes of books. The City of Destin will hold its Annual Arbor Day Event at 10 a.m. April 26 at the Destin Library, 150 Sibert Ave. The event will feature a guest speaker and a tree planting ceremony by the city’s Environmental/Tree Committee. The City will give away a Tulip Tree seedling to the first 50 people to arrive at the ceremony. The public is welcomed to bring their own seedlings to trade with other tree enthusiasts.

Belk Charity Sale
Belk's semi-annual Charity Sale will be held from 6-10 a.m. April 27. The in-store shopping event offers an opportunity for customers to support local charities while taking advantage of special discounts on purchases. Tickets are $5 and available now from participating organizations, which retain 100 percent of sale. Beginning April 19, tickets can be purchased at Belk with all revenues divided equally among participating charities and schools. Women's Wall of Honor ceremony
The Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women will host a ceremony and reception recognizing the 2013 honorees for the Wall of Honor at 10 a.m. May 7 in the auditorium at the University of West Florida, Emerald Coast Campus, in Fort Walton Beach. The honorees' names are placed on a plaque in the library at the Emerald Coast campus of the UWF with a nearby book containing a biographical page for each woman.
