With an east wind blowing, under overcast skies, the water is clean with a 1-foot wave rolling in at the Okaloosa Island Pier Tuesday morning. King mackerel, pompano, Spanish mackerel, sheepshead and cobia were among the fish caught Tuesday. Other fish showing up are whiting, redfish and bonito.
The cobia run has been great this season with Chris Raim hauling in a 93.2-pounder last week to top the leaderboard of the Cobia World Championships. The Spanish and king mackerel are showing up in close with a 47-pound king caught near the jetties on a cobia lure. Speckled trout and redfish are still hot on the grassflats and sheepshead are still biting well on shrimp around the bridge. Pompano are showing up in the surf in the deeper holes.
Mingo, white snapper, triggerfish and red grouper are lining the boards from the charter boats. The swordfish bite offshore is good.
