Pier/Surf

Under overcast skies, the water is clean with a 1-foot wave rolling in at the Okaloosa Island Pier Tuesday morning. Pompano and Spanish mackerel were already hitting the pier early. Other fish showing up in the last few days include redfish, sheepshead, bluefish, cobia and king mackerel.

Inshore/Bay

Local cobia tournaments are winding down this week with Chris Raim still sitting atop the leaderboard of the Cobia World Championships with a 93.2-pounder. The Spanish and king mackerel are showing up in close. Speckled trout and redfish are still hot on the grassflats on the outgoing  tide. Try fishing for redfish and trout back in the bayou at night under the lights. Live shrimp always works well for bait. Pompano are showing up in the  surf in the deeper  holes.

Offshore/Bottom

Big amberjack, scamp, mingo, white snapper, triggerfish and red grouper are hitting the docks of late. Capt. Mike Eller of the Lady Em brought in more than one swordfish from offshore near the Spur in the last couple of weeks.
