The demolition work at the Destin Sands Beach Resort is coming to an end as all nine floors of the building have now been torn down. The resort's general manager, Joe Farley (pictured above with a snapshot of the original construction of the Hawaiki in 1968) told The Log that they are getting there, but it's not quite done. "We still need to pull up some pilings and we need to clean up," said Farley. "There's probably two weeks or so left in the demolition process, not too long." When asked when construction would start on the new project, Farley told The Log that they were still in the planning stages. "Originally we hadn't planned on taking down the tower," Farley told The Log’s Jessica Coker. "We've had to go back to the drawing board and work on the design. It's hard to say when we'll begin construction."
