First Baptist Church, 201 Beach Drive, has posted hallways and common areas with vibrant and colorful decorations and extends an invitation for all children in Destin to come make memories and fill the air with screams and shouts.
“Colossal Coaster World will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 5-9 for children ages four to fifth grade," said Laurie Roper, director of children ministries. "A Family Fun Sunday follows on Aug. 11."
The weeklong event will feature summer activities including kid relevant and upbeat music, crafts, Bible stories, games and good old fashion fun with free passes provided by The Track and tokens to play the Arcade at Fat Daddy’s Pizza.
“Our Family Fun Sunday will start with small groups at 9:15 a.m., then children will take the stage in our sanctuary at 10:30, followed by a free seafood feast and hot dogs for all children at noon in our fellowship hall,” Roper said.
Each month, First Baptist Destin hosts special events as outreach to the Destin community. Week for children is event for August, followed in September with third annual community Fish Fry, then Fall Festival in October.
“Our goal for each special event is to establish lasting relationships and build bridges that connect families with our church, and more importantly with Jesus Christ,” church pastor Dr. Farren Roper said.
First Baptist Destin is a caring ministry providing spiritual growth for members and opportunities for community with its Child Development Center, Rocky Bayou Christian Elementary School through grade sxi, and Sunday and Wednesday night services that build a strong relationship with God.
