Sweetwater Brewing Company and Chan's Wine World of Destin teamed up to host a fish fry fundraiser for Emerald Coast Waterkeeper Alliance Aug. 14 at Chan's.
Manager Randy Hayden told The Log that Sweetwater came to him with the idea of raising funds for Waterkeeper Alliance.
"Emerald Coast Waterkeeper is a great organization. It's one of the many that we work with, and hopefully we can do more stuff with them in the future," Hayden said.
For $5, the more-than 75 customers in attendance got to try several Sweetwater's beers, including Blue, IPA and Dank Tank. For an additional $12, Chan's provided plates of fried mahi mahi, hushpuppies and coleslaw.
Chan's hosts a beer tasting every Wednesday. The next special event will be Aug. 28, when the beer tasting will be highlighted by a burger cook-off between The Wine Bar chef Trey Griffith and Brian Cartenuto of Tucker Duke's Lunchbox and Market. Chan's hosted the first burger battle between the two in March.
"We had about 250 people show up. We were not expecting 250 people. (Cartenuto) beat us by three votes," Hayden said.
