Virginia (Ginny) Franklin

Virginia (Ginny) Franklin passed away July 9, 2013, at age 69.

She is survived by her children, Donald Franklin of Rhode Island, Sherry Wesley, and Greg Franklin; and many grandchildren.

Ginny was originally a Destin resident married to Dennis Franklin, boat captain and building contractor. Their families residency dates back to "The good ole Destin" when it was still "The SMALL Luckiest fishing village in the world"! The days when the Green Knight still stood at the Jitney Jungle.

Ginny was a retired nurse after 38 years. She spent her life taking care of others. She was a well-respected and admired woman and certainly loved by many, not just in the medical field, but as a person in general. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all.

She was also a faithful and devoted Catholic, but also participated in other churches as well. She believed in a strong family union and encouraged others to do the same.  She believed and participated in many charities through the years. She was one of the strongest and most caring women and we were very proud  and blessed to call her “Mom.”

Many thanks to all involved in her care, both physically and spiritually.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 25 at Cornerstone Church on Hwy. 83 in DeFuniak Springs.

The family will have a meal reception and celebration of life immediately following the service. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome, but please RSVP so we know how many to plan for.  RSVP at gregf6842@yahoo.com or wshewsl@aol. com.
