With the Resolute Martial Arts & Family Fitness facility already set up for child-care and karate, Clint and Hollie Hamm easily transitioned into an after-school program that helps both students and parents.
“We had a summer camp, which developed over the past two years,” Clint said. “We’re always thinking of new ways to help our community and grow our business.
“We feel like we’re an alternative to daycare,” he added.
The couple owns Resolute, which caters to individuals and families who see martial arts as a fitness program and a way to create discipline and respect in themselves and toward others.
Both Clint and Hollie hold black belts, with Hollie having begun her training as a child.
“I’ve been doing martial arts since I was 9 years old,” she said, “and I’ve been teaching kids since I was 12.”
The program offers student pick-up, with schools listed on its website. Students get a snack, do homework, take a karate class and are ready for their parents as late as 6 p.m.
Clint added, “they’re getting structured activities the entire time.”
School ages kindergarten through middle are accepted, although space is limited.
