Piano recital



NICEVILLE - The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra presents a special fund raiser at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9 with guest pianist Alon Goldstein, who recently made his debut as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has performed in Israel, Bucharest and Paris as well as in the United States. Tickets available at the Arts Center Box Office for $25 each. For a contribution of $100, patrons may receive two recital tickets as well as an invitation to a wine reception from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 10 to meet the artist. Independent Film Series



DESTIN - The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a movie night showing “We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks” at 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Library.  The program is free and open to the public. Films are unrated and directed toward mature audiences. Seating will be limited to 30 on a first-come, first-served basis.



Backyard Boogie for the Arts



MIRAMAR BEACH – Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast and the Forrest Williams Band present “Backyard Boogie for the Arts” at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at Williams Backyard Boogie, 1921 Chat Holly Road in Santa Rosa Beach. Proceeds from the event will benefit Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast’s Arts in Medicine program.

Girls’ Night Out



SANDESTIN - Profitt PR’s seventh Girls’ Night Out: Arabian Nights will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 26 at Elephant Walk at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The women-only social event will raiwse money for Shelter House. BLUEWATER BAY - The 19th annual Oktoberfest and Arts & Crafts Festival at Winn Dixie Plaza needs artists and craftsmen interested in selling their work. The festival, sponsored by the Mid-Bay Rotary Club, will be held from 5-10 p.m. Sept. 27 and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 28. Cost for the 2-day event is $75. Beer Festival

Seafood Festival



DESTIN – The 35th annual Destin Seafood Festival will take place along the Destin Harbor Boardwalk featuring fresh local seafood, live music, artists, and more will be held from 4-10 p.m. Oct. 4; 10a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 5; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct 6. No admission charge —  donations accepted at the door.



On Sunday, the Annual Mingo Toss takes place, followed by a treasure hunt down the harbor for kids up to 11 years of age on top of the hill at the Royal Melvin Heritage Park, behind the Destin City stage.
