More than 75 vendors will fill the Life Center at Destin United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

The Destin United Methodist Women’s fifth annual Fall Flair Arts and Crafts Show promises booths filled with handmade items and a large assortment of various Christmas items. The DUMW will also sell their famous angel jewelry.

“We have a lot of returning vendors, but also lots of new ones this year,” said Betty Pope, chairwoman of the event. “We have some very unique vendors joining us this year and we are increasing the vendors this year to include some retail sales. They will be in the rooms behind the cafe. Book authors, painters, jewelry, embroidery baby items and bling, bling, bling!”

In addition, homemade goodies from the entire church will be available at the huge bake sale to enjoy while browsing the booths or to take home. Items range from cake pops to meringue topped pies, with a section of non-sweet diabetic temptations.Show-goers can also take a break and enjoy the wonderful foods from the Soul Café, including a lasagna lunch or sandwiches. A closed bid auction will replace previous years’ raffle.

Local book authors include Carolyn Guest, Nelson Ottenhausen and Pam Griffin.

Guest, born and raised in Birmingham, Ala., now resides in Navarre and is the author of the Southern Mansion Mysteries, fiction stories based on actual mansions in the south.

Ottenhausen, of Gulf Breeze, is a retired Army officer and an accomplished writer of murder mysteries, poems, and adventure thrillers of international intrigue.

Griffin, who works at The Log, will sell her third Christmas card/pamphlet at the show and will also show a photo book about the children of the Philippines that will be available to order.

“The volume of work to be seen is amazing, and talent is inspiring,” Pope said. “Come on out and support the UMW's fundraiser and enjoy yourselves for the day. Proceeds from the event benefit the church’s missions.”
