Margaritaville Talent Search



Margaritaville is looking for hot local talent to join their entertainment team. Whether youíre a solo artist, dynamic duo or full out band we want YOU to showcase your work on our stage for the chance to win a spot in their schedule.



Auditions will be held on the HarborWalk Village main stage Oct. 13-15. These auditions will be held by scheduled appointment only. In order to be considered for an audition time, you must send an email to destinlivemusic@margaritaville.com with your contact information, play list, and a link to a website where we can hear and see samples of your work. In addition, if you are playing any local public venue between Oct. 13-15, please provide the name of the venue, the address, and the time you will be performing.



All talent must be able to play covers to connect with audiences of all ages. Acts must have the ability to play different styles of cover music, i.e. classic rock, country, Top 40, and dance. Acts are required to perform guest requests and interact with an audience. Acts must focus on performing fun and upbeat music. Performances will take place nightly throughout 2013.



Waves for Wild Things to benefit Biophilia Center



Enjoy a special evening of dinner, entertainment and a sunset cruise at 5 p.m. Nov. 1 aboard the SOLARIS yacht departing from Baytowne Marina in Sandestin. Join the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center to raise funds to support important area student educational programs, conservation and wildlife.



The event will also include a silent auction and a short presentation by the Centerís President, Christy Scally and Director, Paul Arthur. Admission is $100 per person and includes a cruise on the Choctawhatchee Bay, on-board chef-prepared dinner and entertainment.

Call to Artists: ADSOís Art Week



The Arts and Design Society issues an invitation to the community, artists and otherwise, to enter into some fun competitions for ADSO's Art Week, Nov. 16-22. There are five competitions; entry fee for each is $5 per work, and deadline for entry is 1-4 p.m. Nov. 16.



The categories are Team Art (three artists do the same subject in different media);  Me, Myself, and I Team Art (one artist does the same subject in three different media); Takee Outee Art (make what you will from a take-out box); Folded Paper Art (using only a sheet of white paper, make a work of art); Paint on Panels (using a sample-size cabinet door, create a work of art).



For the three latter competitions, the boxes, paper, and panels must be obtained from the ADSO office, 17 First Street, SE, in Fort Walton Beach, for $5, which is the entry fee, during office hours, 12-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.



Call to Artists: Musical Echoes



Musical Echoes Flute Festival, Inc. announces the start of the annual poster competition. Submit your design by Jan. 11 for a chance to win $200. Each year Musical Echoes selects a Totem for the theme of the annual Native American Flute Festival that takes place April 25 - 27 at the Fort Walton Beach Landing.  This year our totem is the hummingbird. The meaning of the hummingbird is peace, love and joy, and they symbolize devotion, permanence and eternity. 



The flute must be the primary feature on the poster with the hummingbird present as well.  Information on the contest can be found at www.musicalechoes.org, email gmeyer@fwb.org or call 833-9595.  If your design is chosen, you will receive $200 and your design will be displayed at the festival and may be used on promotional items for this yearís event.
