The silent auction at St. Andrew’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Destin on Sept. 13 was a huge success. More than $9,000 was raised for ministries to the needy in our area and their homeless ministries.

Kate Driggers provided background music as the 120 attendees browsed the auction offerings and made their bids. Hotly contended items were a bottle of champagne donated by Cash’s Liquors, a generous gift certificate provided by Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and a hand loomed scarf made by Becky Chidsey, a member of the congregation. A bicycle donated by the church’s bike repair crew was also a hotly contested item.

A great time was had by all as the wine flowed, appetites were appeased and the bidding was all done in good humor with just the right edge of competition.

Special thanks go to Charles Morgan for his support every year with donations from Camille’s, Harbor Docks, Red Bay Grocery, and this year a Gulf fishing trip.
