Anita Holt Saed



Anita Holt Saed, 78, of Destin, formerly of Memphis, Tenn., passed away peacefully on Nov. 8, 2013, at her home.



Anita moved to Destin in 2010. She was on the board of the homeowners association of the Enclave Condominiums where she loved living and working with the association. Anita also enjoyed painting, cooking, entertaining, traveling and playing bridge. She was an avid sports enthusiast. She loved the Memphis Tigers, the Tennessee Volunteers and the St. Louis Cardinals.



Anita was a devoted wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.



She is preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. Huey T. Holt and Mr. Sam Saed. She is survived by sons, Dr. Hugh Holt and his wife, Lisa and Michael Holt and his wife, Ginger; brother, Leighton Wright; and six grandchildren whom she adored.



Friends will gather at 3 p.m. Nov. 24 at the Enclave Clubhouse at 3655 Scenic Hwy. 98, Destin, for a celebration of life. Please join in to remember Anita.



Frances Ruth Duke Ponder



Frances, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, died in Birmingham Nov. 12, 2013.  She was born Aug. 8, 1919, to Vera Foust Duke and Conrad J. Duke in Cullman, Ala., where she lived most of her life. She married Elbert E. Ponder and made a career of helping him in his many projects and business interests. She and Elbert enjoyed 65 years of marriage, family, friends, fun, church and community achievements in Cullman and Destin.



Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Wilma Chambers; and great-grandson John Clark Eidson. 



She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Cahoon and Suzy (Bill) Eidson; grandchildren, Greg (Kathie), Doug (Julia), Kara and Robert (Susan); great-grandchildren, Chase, Morgan, Audrey, Riley, Elizabeth, Patrick and Phillip; and brother, Charles Duke (Dorothy) and his family.



A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 16 at Grace Episcopal Church in Cullman, followed by a reception in the parish hall where friends and family can share “Frances” memories.
