Construction on Destin’s newest upscale luxury apartments, Venue Emerald Coast, is expected to break ground within the next 30 days along Commons Drive.

“Our location and proximity will provide our residents easy access to all that Destin has to offer,” said Davis Development’s Gene Babb.

The Venue Emerald Coast, which will be situated on an 11.2-acre parcel next to the Alexan-Henderson Beach, is being developed by Georgia-based Davis Development and will offer residents 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom units ranging in size from 661-square feet to 1,744-square feet.

Babb told The Log that pricing at Venue would be comparable to other “class A” luxury apartment communities in Destin. The development will consist of both three and four-story buildings, and will have 235 total units.

Amenities will include a large resort style swimming pool, a high-end workout facility with a designation yoga area, granite countertops throughout, garden tubs and large walk-in closets, elevators in the four-story buildings, and a drive through mail kiosk.

Davis Development currently has apartment communities in Atlanta, Ga., Charlotte, N.C., Dallas, Tx., and Memphis, Tenn., and will be developing communities in Birmingham, Montgomery and Charleston, SC, in addition to Destin.

When The Log asked for renderings of the Venue project, Babb declined, saying that Davis Development as a matter of corporate policy doesn’t release renderings.

Before construction can begin on the project, a majority of the existing infrastructure at the site will have to be removed, Babb said. Roads and utilities were installed for an upscale RV park that was slated for development at one point.

Babb said that developers would like to have the project completed in 12-14 months after groundbreaking.

As for why Davis Development chose Destin for its latest project, Babb says that’s simple.

“There are so many things to love about Destin,” he wrote in an email to The Log. “Great people, wonderful restaurants, incredible golf courses, beautiful beaches, fantastic shopping and the greatest fishing in the world.”
