The Destin Community Center is primed for a roof replacement.
"The Community Center is an important part of our community, housing hundreds of events and programs year round," Public Information Manager Doug Rainer told The Log. "We are happy to make these needed improvements that will help keep this building in good shape for years to come."
Built in 1991, The Community Center will see its roof completely replaced for the first time. City leaders are expected to award the $289,560 project to Design/Build Systems, Inc, a Fort Walton Beach based company with more than 30 years of experience.
In addition to replacing the roof, Rainer said there are also other items the city would like to address, such as window, door and shutter replacement, which could cost up to an additional $86,400.
"There will probably be some unknowns when they get in there and start working," he said.
City leaders will vote on whether or not to award the bid to Design/Build Systems, Inc., the project's lowest bidder, during their regular City Council meeting Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at the City Hall Annex.
