With Christmas just days away, the holiday lights have come out to play.
For those searching for a bit of Christmas cheer, look no further than the Twin Lakes subdivision along Airport Road where Lindsay Cannon has decked out her house to resemble a giant, smiling Santa face.
"This is our first year putting lights on our house," she told The Log. "Folks can't miss it."
Cannon's home is just one of many in Destin that has been illuminated by strands of lights. The city is currently in the midst of its annual Christmas Outdoor Decorating Contest.
The Cannons will no doubt be contenders as they say the face is "just the beginning" with more lights to come.
"I'm motivated to win it, but regardless, my kids absolutely love it."
Judging will take place until Dec. 15, within the city limits, and the winners will be announced in The Log on Dec. 21.
Awards are given in six categories — best decorated home; best decorated business; best decorated organization; best holiday overall; best on the harbor; and best decorated condominiums.
If there are decorations that deserve special attention, judges can be reached at 650-1241 or by email at email@example.com.
