After winning in the first two rounds, the Fort Walton Beach Lady Vikings lost 54-36 to the Corbin High Redhounds of Kentucky in the championship game of the first-ever Destin Holiday Classic held at the Destin Community Center.



At the end of the first quarter, the game was tied at 10-10. By the half, Cobin had edged ahead 27-23.



The difference came in the second half, when the Corbin Redhounds outscored the Vikings 16-4 in the third quarter alone.



Fort Walton Beach Coach Holly McDaniel was quoted on the Destin Holiday Classic Facebook page as saying, "We just lost our focus in the third quarter and all the credit goes to Corbin. They hit some big shots there. We had a good run and just ran out of gas in the second half."



In the fourth quarter, Corbin put up eight points before the Vikings got a shot to fall. In the last four minutes of play, Fort Walton Beach put up nine points, while the Redhounds added three more.



For the game, Fort Walton Beach was led by Mercedez Claybrone with nine points and Deanndra McLane with eight.



Scoring in double digits for Corbin was Miranda Wilson with 18 and Kayla Wilson with 17.



Miranda Wilson was named Most Valuable Player of the eight-team girl's tournament.
