The Ruckel Rams out stroked the Destin Marlins in a middle school swim meet at the Fort Walton Family YMCA last week.
The Destin girls lost 141-84, while the boys fell 160-63.
"Great and gutty performance," said Destin Coach Terry Gulledge in an email. "With so many sick swimmers out, I think we had an outstanding performance against a very strong Ruckel team. They have quite a few year round swimmers, but I think we hung in pretty well with them."
Despite the overall team loss, Destin swimmers captured five first place finishes.
Destin's Kaylee Bartlett placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard individual medley, while Rebekah Bigham came in first in the 25-yard freestyle and 25-yard backstroke.
Dylan Olsen earned the only first place for the Destin boys with a top mark in the 50-yard butterfly.
