Due to winter weather conditions, Waste Management will suspend all residential and commercial garbage collection services in the Northwest Florida area; including Walton, Holmes, Jackson and Washington counties; on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

In north Walton County, regularly-scheduled Wednesday residential routes will receive service Friday, Jan. 31. In South Walton County, regularly-scheduled Wednesday residential routes will resume service on Saturday, Feb. 1. All Walton County regularly-scheduled Wednesday commercial routes will receive service Thursday, Jan. 30.

In Holmes, Jackson and Washington counties, regularly-scheduled Wednesday residential routes will run a day behind schedule for the remainder of the week; Wednesday customers will receive service Thursday, Jan. 30; Thursday customers on Friday, Jan. 31; and Friday customers on Saturday, Feb. 1.

In Okaloosa County, regularly-scheduled Wednesday commercial and household garbage routes will have a delay in start. Regularly-scheduled residential yard waste routes will resume service on the next scheduled yard waste day, Wednesday, Feb. 5. This will affect the City of Destin, Ft. Walton Beach (county), Blue Water Bay, Ruckel and Rocky Bayou areas of Niceville.

“Waste Management is in frequent communication with local officials and has informed them of our plans to temporarily stop collection services, due to icy road conditions. We have suspended Waste Management collection service as an added safety precaution and thank our valued customers for their patience and cooperation,” said Lynn Yort, public sector sales representative, Waste Management Gulf Coast Area.
