Destin Rockets Lacrosse will be hosting its first home tournament Feb. 8 at the Morgan Sports Center.

Teams from Louisiana, Tallahassee and Gulf Breeze will be participating in the event.

Games will start on the hour, with the first slated at 9 a.m. and finishing at 5 p.m.

Combining the excitement of hockey and the fast break speed of basketball, Lacrosse is actually the oldest sport native to North America, digging its roots in our history in the Fifth Century.

The Rockets, which will be composed of middle school and high school players, will play a 10-game schedule that runs January through May. Since the league is considered a “club” team, it will not interfere with school sports, although it is a traveling team, so tournaments will be held on the weekends.
