Once upon a time Norriego Point was a beautiful beach in Destin. Then, in 2007, a group decided to build a condo on the point — but before they could begin construction, they built a seawall.
They poured heavy concrete pads, which were intended to ultimately anchor the seawall. But they never got around to finishing the job.
Thus those concrete memorials, each dated with the month, day and year, of their birth, still lie in the sand to remind anyone who bothers to look that it is perfectly OK to litter the beach.
