A late-night raid on a boat repair yard briefly netted an alleged thief three fishing rods and other items, but later he was arrested and charged with a trio of felonies.
An employee of Marine Mechanix on Mountain Drive summoned an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy to the business after he learned of the theft, according to an arrest report. The employee showed the deputy surveillance footage of 24-year-old Timothy Jay Riendeau of Destin removing the fishing rods and a bag of unknown items from an Atlanta resident’s boat that was at the facility to be repaired.
The deputy was able to identify Riendeau and tracked him down at his residence. Riendeau admitted taking the rods, reels and two bags of tools, and gave them to the deputy.
Riendeau was on felony probation and was charged with felony burglary, larceny and probation violation. His plea date is April 8.
