St Joe Community Foundation gives to MDA

The St Joe Community Foundation has provided an $11,200 grant to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to enable 14 children diagnosed with neuromuscular diseases from Bay and Walton Counties to attend Camp Suwannee in Dowling, Fla., for a week this summer.  The MDA camp program offers a wide range of activities specially designed for youngsters who have limited mobility or use wheelchairs.

“With The St. Joe Community Foundation’s contribution, we are able to send the children and their parents to Camp Suwanee for a week,” says Lisa Heil, MDA executive director.  “We have found that the camp experience provides an opportunity for the kids to develop new friendships and helps build self-confidence.”
