The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center held its second Special Needs in Nature Day March 8. Interactions with live animals such as a gopher tortoise, Indigo snake, red-rat snake, birds of prey, a petting zoo courtesy of Alaqua Animal Refuge and a variety of marine species in touch tanks from Ocean Views were enjoyed by more than 140 people.

Reid Soria with Autism Sings gave two amazing performances, and participants got to enjoy a ¼-mile loop trail through a Hammock area paved by C.W. Roberts. Everyone was able to enjoy both the Exhibit Hall and the World of Wonder presentation.

Volunteers from the community, including the South Walton Leadership Council and the Freeport Key Club, provided assistance. The event was sponsored in part by Bud & Alley’s and Great Southern Café.
