Ever heard of a drink called Destin? A restaurant in Gainesville called Five Bar, has given the World’s Luckiest Fishing Village a nod of approval with their signature cocktail.
"I'm not sure who came up with the name," said front of house manger, Dane Henderson, "It's a spin on a cosmopolitan, with a grapefruit twist and a prosecco floater on top."
Henderson, a Destin native, explained that inspiration for the drink stemmed from the Destin restaurant, Harbor Docks.
"Harbor Docks is our mother restaurant," Henderson said. "They are the majority owner of the Five Bar chain, and we are the newest one."
Harbor Dock’s owner Charles Morgan agreed that the origin of the drink is a mystery.
“The Five Bars are all staffed by Destin people for the most part,” Morgan said. “I guess when it came time to put some special drinks together, the kids from Destin named it that cause they missed their hometown.”
Henderson shared that the drink is the second most popular cocktail on the menu in Gainesville, second only to their drink the Bordeaux Bourbon. The question remains can you get it in Destin?
"I'm sure you can ask for it at Harbor Docks," Henderson mused. "Just give them the recipe and I'm sure they'll make it for you."
