Ninety teams from all over the southeast flooded into Destin recently to participate in the Fudpucker's Beachside Bar and Grill Battle by the Beach soccer tournament with an estimated 4,500 people in attendance.
Girls and boys ranging from 6 to 18 years old competed in the tournament presented by Real Athletic Development — Football Club (RAD-FC).
“Our teams got the opportunity to play in our own backyard against good teams from all over the Southeast," said RAD Director of Operations Jose Fernandez.
"It was great to see how our reputation brought top ranked teams from Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and other area clubs to the Emerald Coast. Coaches and parents from these clubs were very pleased with a very well-organized tournament, great competition and of course, great weather. They all said they were definitely coming back next year.”
Several RAD-FC teams won gold medals, including the U-9 Boys team, while nearly all of the Club’s teams placed within the top three in their respective divisions. RAD-FC has six teams ranked within the top-20 in the state of Florida with three of the teams ranking in the top 10.
Founded in 2012 along the Emerald Coast, RAD-FC focuses on competitive youth soccer that works for the players, the parents, and the community. The club’s home field is at Destin’s own Morgan Sports Complex.
“Having played on just about every patch of grass in Northwest Florida, we can rightly say one of our greatest assets is Morgans Sports Complex located in Destin, Florida. Professionally maintained by the brilliant staff of the city of Destin, Recreation Sports department, it accommodates all of our teams," said Club founder and executive director Matt Oswald.
