Whether the Christmas spirit is taking you shopping, dining or to one of many festive events, a Destin Christmas is unlike any other.
As part of the run-up to the most wonderful time of the year, The Log is profiling the 12 Days of Christmas from Dec. 13 to Dec. 24. While you may have trouble finding a partridge in a pear tree, there are plenty of other options your true love is sure to adore.



Without further ado, we present Destin’s 12 days of Christmas:



On the first day of Christmas …



Stroll through the Festival of Trees and check out more than a dozen decorated Christmas trees on public display 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily through Dec. 25 at Grand Park in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin. Vote for the People's Choice Award winner every day at the kiosk at Grand Boulevard through Dec. 15. That day, Santa Claus will announce the winner of the award and $2000 at 2 p.m. in Grand Park.



On the second day of Christmas …



Stop by YOLO’s new location for the perfect family gift — a YOLO Board Inflatable Package! On the third day of Christmas …



Light up the night with paper lanterns in the shapes of iconic symbols of the holiday season at the third annual Baytowne Holiday Lantern Parade at 6 p.m. Dec. 15. Individuals and groups are invited to participate by making their own paper lanterns. Sandestin Homeowners will light up their golf carts and join in the fun as they pass by with parade treats. On the fourth day of Christmas …



Get into the spirit of Christmas at the Freeport Town Planters’ Festival of Trees from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Freeport Community Center. The trees have been decorated by individuals, organizations, and businesses and will compete for the People’s Choice award to be presented at the end of the show Sunday. There will be a drawing for one of the trees. Admission is $5. Call 307-5445.



On the fifth day of Christmas …



Let it glow, let it glow, let it glow at Christmas Reflections. Enjoy a holiday family tradition in DeFuniak Springs as the Lake yard lights up with the annual Christmas Reflections displays from 5-9 p.m. nightly through Dec. 31. A variety of Victorian, animal and toy soldier cutouts, Santa’s workshop, the grandfather clock ticking away, and the Nativity Scene all surrounded by more than 3 million twinkling trees. Admission is $3 per person, children under 6 free. Horse drawn carriage rides are available for an additional fee. Call 974-6774.



On the sixth day of Christmas …



Celebrate the magic of Christmas with a Skype call to Santa at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort through Dec. 21. Santa will be available for free Skype conversations from 4-5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Families can simply call him at Skype location name, SandestinResort.



On the seventh day of Christmas …



Enjoy a special holiday edition of the Wednesday Night Concert Series from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 19 in the Events Plaza at the Village of Baytowne Wharf. A special holiday show by the Butler Elementary music program, the Butler Bears, is followed by the Niceville High School Opus One Choir.



On the eighth day of Christmas …



Join the Feline Friends of Destin for the organization’s Christmas Party, a volunteer/supporter appreciation event, 6-8 p.m. Dec. 20 at Johnny O'Quigleys in Destin. Appetizers, soft drinks, and entertainment provided. Celebrate the accomplishments of the past year for the rescue cats/kittens in the Destin area with fellow FFoD volunteers/supporters. On the ninth day of Christmas …



Watch the Ballet Conservatory and Destin School of Music and Dance present the annual production of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, at 7 p.m. Dec. 21 and 2 p.m. Dec. 22 in the South Walton Beach High School Auditorium, 645 Green Trail in Santa Rosa Beach. The program features more than 80 local dancers.

On the tenth day of Christmas …



Get tucked in by Sandestin’s Santa. The resort continues its innovative Santa Tuck-In Program for a small fee every Friday and Saturday through Dec. 22. Resort guests will receive a special visit from Santa, a personalized gift for each child and hear a bedtime story. Proceeds go to Toys for Tots.
