In celebration of Florida's 500th anniversary, Justin Riney, the founder and CEO of Mother Ocean, is leading a 365-day journey around Florida. And itís bringing him to Destin on Monday.



This exploration project, Expedition Florida 500 (XF500), will pay homage to Ponce de Leon with a modern-day expedition, while empowering ocean advocacy worldwide.



XF500 is the culmination of three organizations ó Mother Ocean, Quiksilver Waterman and Tahoe SUP.



Making the yearlong journey entirely by paddleboard, Riney is set to arrive at Clement Taylor Park in Destin on Monday, Jan. 7, at 3:30 p.m.



Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance and the City of Destin will be on hand to explain some of the clean water initiatives in place at the park.



Destin residents, students, paddleboarders and anyone interested are invited to meet Riney to learn more about XF500.



The public is also invited to attend a meet and greet with Justin Riney on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. downstairs at Harbor Docks, located at 538 Harbor Boulevard in Destin.
