Edwin F. Alexander
Edwin F. Alexander (Alex), 90, of Bossier City, La., (previously Destin, Fla.) passed away Dec. 28, 2012.
He is survived by Margaret C. Alexander, his wife of 65 years; children, Bettye Adams, husband, Mark, and Connie Opheikens, husband Clint; brother, James T. Alexander; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and faithful friends and neighbors.
Proceeding Alex in death were two sisters.
Alex was born on June 2, 1922, in Albion, Okla., and after numerous military moves, settled in the Northwest area of Florida in the early 60's. He enjoyed visiting friends, square dancing, golfing, carpentry and traveling.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 11 at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Highway 80 in Haughton, La.
Lanesta 'Lynne' Humphrey Venatori
Mrs. Lanesta 'Lynne' Humphrey Venatori, 88, passed away Jan. 5, 2013, in Rock Hill, S.C., after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Belvidere, Vt., to the late Harriet Potter Humphrey Rooney and Clyde Merton Humphrey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Louis E. Venatori, and sister, Estina Bacon.
Lynne and Lou resided for many years in Bristol, Conn., where they owned the S & L Fabric Store and were active members of St. Anthony Church and school community. They moved to Allentown, Pa., in 1973, where Lou was National Sales Manager with Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine Company, Sweden.
In 1992, they retired to Destin. Following the death of her husband in 1993, Lynne remained in Destin, where she was active in her community and Resurrection Catholic Church. In 2012, she moved to Park Pointe Retirement Community in Rock Hill, to be closer to her family in the Charlotte, N.C. area.
Lynne is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gilmer; son-in-law, Larry; and granddaughter, Elaine.
A Catholic funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony Church in Bristol, Conn., at 10 a.m. Jan. 24, followed by a private burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
