Life after loss
The Destin United Methodist Church sponsored Stephen Ministers will form a Grief Group for all those who have experienced a loss. The group will meet for six consecutive weeks. The attempt to return to the routines of one’s life after facing a significant loss is no small challenge. The group will recognize the need to grieve and the need to slow down and take it easy. One day at a time is not just a cliché; it is a guiding principle for those facing loss.
Readjusting after a significant loss is nothing less than beginning again … again. The normal has been taken away and the new normal is both frightening and foreboding.
The group will share your journey of grief and help you to reconcile with this grief. We offer a one-hour preview or introduction to the Grief Group at 2 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Destin Life Center building at the church. This meeting will discuss the six-week course and answer your questions. If you feel that the Grief Group could be helpful, please let the church know so they have a place for you. The group will begin at 2 p.m. Feb. 21, also in the Destin Life Center.
