'Bonnie and Clyde' arrested in Destin
A couple was arrested for several felony charges after what an Okaloosa
County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher said was a “Bonnie and Clyde”-type
incident.
Kristen Whitmore, 39, and Jonathan Leo Lebaron, 31, were arrested
for possession of a controlled substance without prescription, false
report of a crime, possession of paraphernalia, giving a false name
while lawfully detained and obtaining food with the intent to defraud.
On April 27, a deputy responded to Joes’s Crab Shack in Destin
and the couple told him someone stole their keys to a rental truck,
their IDs and the woman’s purse. Their food bill totaled $79.82 and
they said they had no way to pay for it since their belongings had been
taken.
Deputies found the rental truck, not stolen and parked at another
location. The woman’s purse was in the brush behind the vehicle.
Deputies also found the couple gave false names to file their report.
The couple said they had no money and made up the story about the
theft.
Whitmore and Lebaron were arrested.
Deputies searched the truck and also found multiple drug
paraphernalia items and medicine they didn’t have a prescription for.
