DESTIN – A 32-year-old man has been charged with interference of child custody after deputies found a missing boy at his home, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The boy’s mother called police after she woke up from a nap around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and found her son missing from the living room couch, the release said. Deputies canvassed the area and spoke with a man who said he saw the missing child at 207 Ann Circle.
Deputies located the boy with Juan Garcia-Dircio around 12:52 p.m., the release said. The boy’s mother said she doesn’t know the man, and her son didn’t leave home by himself.
Garcia-Dircio told deputies that he entered the mother’s residence at 215 Ann Circle, then told them he found the boy in the street and the two walked back to his home, the release said.
The man was found with a false social security card and a fake Mexican passport, according to the release. Additional charges are pending.
