Community meetings



Destin City Hall
All City Council meetings, workshops, executive sessions and CRA Board meetings are held at the City Hall Annex, 4100 Two Trees Road. All other board and committee meetings are held at City Hall, 4200 Two Trees Road. Meetings are subject to change or cancellation without further notice. Agendas for city committees are posted at City Hall for review.
•Public Works/Public Safety meeting, 5:30 p.m. Sept. 9.
•Harbor CRA-AC meeting, 5:30 p.m. Sept. 10.
•Code Enforcement Board meeting, 6 p.m. Sept. 11.

Destin Garden Club
The Destin Garden Club will meet at 9:15 a.m. Sept. 9 at the Destin Library, 150 Siebert Street. Vice-president of Programs Lynn Bowling will present  “Photographic Tips and N’ques... for capturing more exciting images of your garden.” Guests, including men, are welcome. Call  244-4490.

Destin Woman’s Club
The Destin Woman’s Club will meet at 11 a.m. Sept. 10 at Burnt Pine Golf Club, 9300 Emerald Coast Parkway.
The program will be “The Wake Up Call” presented by Ken Walsh and a check presentation for Fisher House of the Emerald Coast. Cost of lunch is $20. RSVP by Sept. 5 at 719-7922 or gpappasjohnson@cox.net

AARP
AARP, Chapter 3493, will meet at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, U.S. 98 and Wright Parkway. Capt. Jim Poirrier, Fort Walton Beach Fire Department Inspection Division, will speak on fire safety especially designed for seniors. Call 243-0947.

Women’s Council of Realtors
The Women’s Council of Realtors will meet Sept. 11 at the Embassy Suites in Miramar Beach. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Election of officers will be held and four Chamber of Commerce CEOs will have a panel discussion.

Florida Public Relations Association
The Florida Public Relations Association’s Northwest Florida Coast Chapter will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at Bluepoint in Destin Commons. UWF professor Dr. Randy Bobbitt will discuss political communication and state lotteries.
The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members which includes networking, lunch and professional development. Call 654-9771, Ext. 208.

Green Thumb Garden Club
The Green Thumb Garden Club of Santa Rosa Beach will hold its first meeting of the year at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 17 at Cafe Provence, 35 Mussett Bayou Road in Santa Rosa Beach. Business meeting will be followed by a presentation on Nokuse Plantation and lunch. For reservations, call 269-2984 or e-mail NKDODD@cox.net. The cost is $18. The public is invited.

Retired Officers Wives Club
 The Retired Officers Wives Club will meet at 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at the Eglin Officers Club. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The program will be Crime Prevention for Seniors by the Okaloosa Sheriff’s Department. Make reservations at 897-2369 by Sept. 11.
 
Destin Kiwanis Club
The Destin Kiwanis Club meets at 7:30 a.m. every Thursday at the Kelly Plantation Golf Club.

Destin Rotary
The Destin Rotary meets at 7:15 a.m. every Tuesday at Rutherford’s 465. Call 269-1080.

Flotilla 1-4 USCG Auxiliary
Flotilla 1-4 USCG Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at Coast Guard Station Destin on Okaloosa Island. Anyone wishing to become a member is welcome to attend. Prior military duty is not required. Call 837-3717.

Rotary Club of South Walton
The Rotary Club of South Walton meets for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. each Thursday morning at the Embassy Suites, Scenic Hwy. 98, Miramar Beach. Visiting Rotarians and their guests are welcome. Call 267-2929.

Optimist Club
The Destin Optimist Club meets at noon on the second Thursday of each month at The Lighthouse restaurant. Cost of lunch is $11. Call 650-2800.
