Homeless man: There's someone outside who wants to kill a waitress
DESTIN -- A homeless man walked into the Golden Corral in Destin on Dec. 29 to report there was a man sitting outside with a knife who told him he intended to kill a waitress.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputy arrived to find a man walking away from Golden Corral and then sitting on a bench at 737 Harbor Blvd.
The man initially fled from the deputy but was caught. When asked if he had any weapons on him, he said he had a half of a methadone pill, for which he doesn't have a prescription.
The deputy ran his name through the computer system and learned he has an active domestic violence injunction and that his wife works at Golden Corral.
After being read his rights, the 27-year-old man said he's been contacting his wife since the injunction was put in place, according to his arrest report. He said he was there on Dec. 29 to collect money she owed him and that he had never told anyone he planned to kill her.
His wife told the deputy that she had been telling her husband to stay away from her, because she was afraid he would get her fired. She said she had told him she would give him money that day, but that he was not to come to her place of employment.
The husband was charged with violating a domestic violence injunction, which is a misdemeanor.
