Man finds kitty litter in his Mustang convertible

DESTIN -- A Destin man called the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office after the building he lives in lost power and he found kitty litter strewn in his Mustang convertible.

The man said the lights went out about 11:30 p.m. on May 19 for about 10 minutes and then came back on. A short time later, they went out again.

The man told a deputy he went out on his balcony and saw a white Mustang “burning rubber” away from the building’s front gate. He then noticed all the buildings around him had power.

According to a Sheriff’s Office incident report, the man said he used a fire escape to get downstairs because the elevators had no power. When he made it to the bottom, he couldn’t get outside. He tried another fire escape and walked around the building and found the other escape door was blocked with bicycles and a small cabinet.

The man saw one of the storage cabinets he uses had been broken into and the contents were scattered through the parking area and in his car. Some of the items were trash, oil cans, and kitty litter.

The man told deputies he felt the person he had done this damage was angry because a lock was put on the ice machine. That lock was broken during this incident.

No arrests have been made.
