Thief caught on 'nanny cam' using doggy door

DESTIN -- A 22-year-old Miramar Beach man was charged with burglary to four homes in Destin, after being seen trying to get in or out of some of the homes.

Matthew Nourse Miller was arrested at his Destin home on April 21. The burglaries took place between March 11 and April 20.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest reports, Miller admitted to entering a home on Vintage Circle and taking a jar of change and a bottle of Whiskey

Neighbors told the resident of a home on Bay Court that they had seen Miller lying on his back, lifting the garage door and sliding under it into the resident. He told them he was “looking for his dog.”

A “nanny cam” also captured a man who appeared to be Miller crawling in the doggy door of a house on Sixth Street. He later confessed to taking a camcorder and jewelry from the residence.

He is also believed to have broken into a home on Calhoun Avenue and taken two bottles of prescription medicine, a jar of quarters and some marijuana.

Miller is scheduled to appear in court on May 20.
