Destin boat launch fee box destroyed
DESTIN — Someone did something not so honorable to the “honor box” at the boat launch on Beach Drive.
The box was destroyed when someone tried to break into it,
according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office offense report.
The honor box is used to collect a $10 charge for launching a
boat without a city permit. The attendant left the launch at 6 p.m. on
May 4 and took the money from the box. Sometime during the night,
someone smashed the door to the box, according to the report.
The cost for replacing the box is about $400. There are no known suspects at this time.
