Victim: Man grabbed her, put hand down pants
DESTIN -- A woman who got in a fight with her boyfriend at a Destin
restaurant and walked away into the night was attacked in Clement
Taylor Park early Friday morning, according to an Okaloosa County
Sheriff’s Office report.
A deputy found the 21-year-old woman hysterical in front of the park’s
restroom about 1:40 a.m. during a routine security check. She said that
she had been walking by when a man grabbed her, placed himself behind
her and put his hand down her pants, the report said.
She said she began crying and trying to get her cell phone out of her
purse. The man ripped her underwear, then took off running down Calhoun
Street. She said she was afraid to look but could hear his footsteps
running away.
The woman said the man did not hurt her. She described him as a white
male, about 5-foot, 9-inches and 145 pounds. She said he had shaggy
brown hair down to his ears, a salt and pepper beard and a musty odor.
His shirt appeared to be black, she said.
A K-9 Unit responded to the scene but was unable to pick up a track,
the report said. Other deputies tried to canvass the area.
About 15 minutes had elapsed since the incident took place.
The woman said she only wanted to go home, though she was cooperative
with police. Her boyfriend did not answer the phone when she called
repeatedly, so she called her father who came and picked her up.
