Easter Worship Schedule:

Easter services

•Lutheran Churches of the Emerald Coast will hold its 37th Annual Beach Sunrise Celebration at 6 a.m. April 24 at Beasley Park on Okaloosa Island. Preacher will be Pastor Paul Kummer. Bring a blanket or chair. In case of rain, service will be under Beasley Pavilion.

•Calvary Chapel Destin, 310 Mountain Drive, will hold Easter Sunday services 10 a.m. A concert will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Destin Commons featuring nationally acclaimed Christian recording group Reilly.

•Cornerstone Presbyterian (PCA), 50 Beach Drive in Destin, will hold services at 10:30 a.m. Sermon will be “Go … Tell.”

•Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive, will hold a Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. at Henderson Beach Park; 7:30 a.m. service in the Sanctuary; and 9 and 11 a.m. services in the Destin Life Center.

•Living Word Ministries will host an interdenominational service at 9 a.m. in the Magnolia Ballroom of the Grand Sandestin Hotel, Baytowne Wharf.  Praise and worship and a Resurrection Sunday message entitled “Behold The Man” will fill this one-hour service.

•St. Andrews By-the-Sea Episcopal Church on U.S. 98 in Destin will have Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. followed by an egg hunt and fellowship. A nursery will be provided.

Passion Play

Destin Assembly of God, 726 Legion Drive, presents the 2011 Passion Play “He’s Alive” at 7 p.m. April 23 and 24. Group seating is available.

Easter activities this week for children, families —and even your dog — include the following:

 

Library egg hunt

The Destin Library has scheduled its Annual Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 4 years and under from 9:30-10:30 a.m. April 21. Pre-registration is required and may be made in person at the library or call 837-8572. Activities will include the traditional Easter Egg Hunt, door prizes, a visit by the Easter Bunny, free balloons, and more.

 

Easter Egg Hunt

The Friends of the Coastal Branch Library will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m.-noon April 21 at 437 Greenway Trail behind the Government Center on Hwy. 331 South.

Children will meet in the story time area of the library before the Easter Egg Hunt, which will take place in the Reading Room Garden of the Library. There will be lots of eggs to hunt followed by an Easter Party with refreshments. Call 267-2809.

 

Easter Egg Hunt

The City of Destin Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 9:15 a.m. April 23 at the Morgan Sports fields. The egg hunt is open to all youth 12 and under. Call 650-1241 or 654-5184.


Back Porch Egg Hunt

The Second Annual Back Porch Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10 a.m. April 23 on the beach behind Back Porch, 1740 Old Hwy. 98, for all children under the age of 7. Find eggs in the sand and have your face painted.


Easter Explosion

Bring a lawn chair for an Easter Sing-A-Long with David Seering from 9:30-10:30 a.m. April 23 at The Village of Baytowne Wharf. Enjoy hymns, praise songs and other church music at this non-denominational gathering. From 12-3 p.m. enjoy children’s activities in the Events Plaza with a visit form the Easter Bunny, face painting, crafts and an inflatable fun zone.

 

Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

Alys, the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter invite you to a Tea Party at Alys Beach from 10 a.m.-noon April 23. Enjoy fairy tale food, hat decorating and mingle with the classic characters. The event is free and open to the public, but hats are limited to the first 150 young guests. A suggested donation of $5 will be accepted to benefit the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation.

 

Picnic in the Park

Eden Gardens State Park in Point Washington will host Picnic in the Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 24. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the gardens. Bring a camera to take pictures with the Easter Bunny and listen to Lucky Mud by the bayou. Entrance fee to the park will be complimentary, but donations are welcome. Tours of the Wesley Mansion will be hourly from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Adults are $4, children $2.

 

Doggie Easter Egg Hunt

The 3 Dogs and a Chick annual Doggie Easter Egg Hunt and Party will be held from 1-3 p.m. April 23 at the Landing Park behind the store in Fort Walton Beach. Festive doggies will search for Easter eggs filled with doggie treats and play games. Adoptable dogs from several local rescue organizations will be in attendance. Game stations will include paw print painting, musical sit and bobbing for hotdogs. The Egg Hunt starts promptly at 1 p.m. Bring a basket for collecting eggs and keep leashes at 4 to 6 foot range.


Easter Egg Hunt and Car Show

An Easter Egg Hunt and Car Show take place from 9 a.m.-noon April 23 at Freeport Regional Sports Complex. The car show begins at 9 a.m., followed by the arrival of the Easter Bunny at 10 a.m. The Egg Hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. There will be a charity raffle for a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro with proceeds going to the children’s empty Christmas stocking fund.

 

Easter Egg-stravaganza

Join Seaside and Cottage Rental Agency for the annual Easter Egg-stravaganza from 12-2 p.m. April 24 in the Seaside Amphitheater. Activities include a visit from the Easter Bunny, lots of candy and live music from 30A Radio.

 

Easter Bunny Brunch

Enjoy an Easter a la carte brunch from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 24 in the HarborView room at Emerald Grande in Destin. There will be free face painting and crafts from 2-4 p.m. at HarborWalk Village and hop on the Easter Bunny's lap for a fun photo on the Village Stage. The first 50 children will receive their photo for free. Call 424-0613 to reserve your place for the Bunny Brunch.
