Weight loss surgery seminar
Dr. Jeffrey Lord, specialist in laparoscopic weight loss surgery, will present “Weight Loss Surgery: Is It Right for You?” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 8 in Suite 3 of the Resource Center at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Reservations recommended.
 
Cancer support group
A cancer support group, sponsored by The Cancer Care Center at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, will meet at 1 p.m. July 8 and 22 in the Cancer Care Center Support Room on the 4th floor at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.  Call 315-7889. 

Baby Weigh Day
The Family Birth Place at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast invites moms with healthy babies under the age of one year-old to attend a monthly “Baby Weigh Day” from 1 to 2 p.m. July 9 in the education classroom on the second floor of the Family Birth Place. Registration required.

Man-to-Man support group
The Cancer Care Center at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in conjunction with The American Cancer Society will host the Man-to-Man support group from 7 to 9 p.m. July 10 in the PCU-A Classroom, 3rd Floor at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Participants learn about prostate cancer and discuss topics relating to its treatment, side effects and how to cope with the disease.  To register, call 244-3813 or 863-2056.

Look Good… Feel Better Program
The Cancer Care Center at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center will host the American Cancer Society’s Look Good…Feel Better Program from 1 to 3 p.m. July 14 in the 3rd Floor PCU-A Classroom at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. To register for this free community program, call 244-3813.

Health Screening
Sacred Heart Health System will provide a free health screening for persons who are poor, uninsured or elderly from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 15 at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, 7800 U.S. Hwy. 98 in Miramar Beach. Blood screening. Call 416-7826.

Baby Basics Class
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will host its monthly Baby Basics class for future parents at 6 p.m. July 15 in the Family Birth Place education room. Registration required.
       
Breast cancer support group
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will host its next meeting of the breast cancer support group at 6 p.m. July 15 in the Olson Women’s Diagnostic Center at Sacred Heart. Call 278-3980 for information.

Support for people with oral, head or neck cancer will hold monthly meetings offering information and encouragement to newly diagnosed patients, survivors, family members and friends in a friendly forum.  Education presentations also part of the program. Next meeting is at 4 p.m. July 16 in the 3rd Floor Classroom A at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Call 863-7580.   
   
Joint Replacement classes
The Joint Replacement Program at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will host classes to help people learn more about the joint replacement process at 10 a.m. July 16 and 30 in the hospital’s Resource Center Suite 3 conference room.

Breastfeeding classes
Regina Humphrey, lactation consultant for the Family Birth Place at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, will present Breastfeeding 101 at 10 a.m. July 31 in the education room on the second floor of the Family Birth Place. The cost is $10 per expectant mom. Registration required.

Freedom from Smoking Program
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will offer its “Freedom from Smoking” program from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays beginning Aug. 11 in the Resource Center Suite 1 education building.
The cost of the seven-week program is $75 per person; however, the orientation class is free, and a limited number of scholarships are available. Call 278-3546 to register.
           
Sacred Heart Medical Park walk-in services
To better meet the needs of patients who need to see a doctor but cannot wait to make an appointment, Sacred Heart Medical Park in Destin is adding walk-in medical care services for patients with minor illnesses or injuries, including colds, sore throats, earaches, sprains, cuts, minor burns or other minor ailments.
Located on the Okaloosa/Walton county line on U.S. 98, Sacred Heart Medical Park walk-in medical services are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Family Birth Place tours
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will offer weekly tours of the Family Birth Place at 6 p.m. every Monday at the welcome desk in the Family Birth Place. Call 278-3995 to make a reservation for a tour.

Volunteer opportunities at Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast is currently seeking volunteers interested in working in the hospital’s gift shops, including the main Gift Shop and The Baby Boutique in the new Family Birth Place. Call 278-3081.

Breastfeeding class
A free class, “Breastfeeding Basics: What to Really Expect after you’ve been expecting,” taught by an accredited La Leche League leader and experienced breastfeeding mom will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursdays at Suncoast Healthcare Professionals, 128 NE Eglin Parkway in Fort Walton Beach. Bridgeway Center

A new support group for parents and caregivers of children and adults with from neurobiological brain disorders meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the Mental Health Association Building, 571 Mooney Road in Fort Walton Beach. Better Breathers Support Group
