"Fashionably yours"
I can’t believe that a year has gone by since the Destin Woman’s Club sponsored its Fall Luncheon and Fashion Show that fulfilled its three-year commitment to the Sacred Heart Hospital Women’s Diagnostic Center.
So many women from the region have benefited from the incredible services, myself included. The event was organized completely by the membership, a task not lightly undertaken, culminating in a large donation for a worthy cause.
Shortly thereafter, at a meeting with this year’s President Susan Polley, I was informed that this year’s charity mission would focus on Children in Crisis Inc.
It is a Not-For-Profit organization to benefit children through caring placement into loving foster homes. Emphasis is placed on keeping siblings together. The process begins when children from unsafe environments are placed into a shelter until the proper match can be found.
I remember looking at Susan and commenting that this would be a daunting task. Quite different from the Sacred Heart project that was service-oriented. This would be a much needed humanitarian effort. Her reply convinced me that this was a challenge and a commitment that the Destin Woman’s Club was prepared to tackle wholeheartedly.
I immediately asked, “How could I help?” I committed to cover the event for the newspaper by encouraging women and men of the area to support this worthy cause by attending the Fall Luncheon and Fashion Show slated for Friday, Oct. 17 at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort.
Retro fashion is the theme this year. Sponsoring boutiques will be dressing the membership models in retro fashions to create a memorable event. It will be a trip down memory lane for one and all. It will be fun to see how many of these styles you wore “back in the day.”
The cost of admission is $45 per person. Seating will be in tables of ten and all tickets must be purchased in advance. For those of you that have not attended a Destin Woman’s Club function, I believe you will find this to be unquestionably the best fashion event of the fall season and quite possibly the year.
Not only is the food “delish” and the show wonderfully orchestrated, the cause is so worthy of support. A special part of the fund-raising is the Raffle Row and silent auctions. Bidding on fabulous prizes that have been so generously donated creates excitement and fun. New to this year’s event is the Bachelor’s Auction. Ladies, you will just have to attend to find out all the details associated with this special segment of the program.
Children in Crisis is in desperate need of your help. Come to the fashion show, have a great lunch, sip a Cosmo while strolling down Raffle Row, gaze at the fantastic Designer’s Table worth thousands of dollars and help out a great cause that will make a difference to deserving children.
