DESTIN — A 25-year-old Navarre man was arrested Aug. 30 on multiple counts of grand theft, dealing in stolen property and providing false information.
Lance Edward Santos, a carpenter for Ivanoff Construction in Destin is accused of stealing from a client of his company's.
A Destin woman told deputies during the time Santos was working on her home $13,700 worth of jewelry went missing, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff's report. She said the theft occurred between March 1 and May 22.
On May 19, Santos allegedly pawned the jewelry at U.S. Gold Kit pawnshop on Beal Parkway. Santos' name, personal identification number and thumb prints were taken as required by law.
Three pieces of jewelry were identified as missing from the woman's home.
The 25-year-old has also been accused of stealing $37,815 from another home he worked construction on in Destin.
Authorities believe Santos' stole the jewelry sometime between May 22 and May 25. On May 23, Santos allegedly went to U.S. Gold Kit. One piece of the woman's jewelry was recovered from the store.
Santos was released on a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 4.
