March 3rd is Ramp Day at Joe's Bayou
Starting at 6:30 a.m., March 3 the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 1-4 will be conducting free Vessel Safety Checks at Joe’s Bayou boat ramp in Destin.
The VSCs are conducted by certified Coast Guard Auxiliary examiners and are not a law enforcement action. The purpose of a VSC is to ensure your boat meets all state and federal regulations to increase your safety and prevent you from getting a ticket out on the water. Vessels that pass receive a 2012 VSC decal to display on-board. Vessels that do not pass are provided a list of recommended items for correction. For more information, check out www.flotilla14.org or contact John Ryan, Public Affairs Officer, at ryanjohnj@hotmail.com or 623-980-8782.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard created by an Act of Congress in 1939. The Auxiliary, America’s Volunteer Guardians, supports the Coast Guard in nearly all of the service’s missions.
