Happy Birthday to us: The Log turns 30 (with FIRST EDITION)

From our humble beginning in the garage of Richard and Marie Andrews’ Sandpiper Circle home on Jan. 6, 1974, The Destin Log is celebrating our own milestone along with the city of Destin. The Log has ventured well into our 35th year in circulation, as the city celebrates its 25th anniversary.

The Log has grown right along with Destin and evolved with new ownership and changing trends in journalism. The move to our Airport Road location happened in July of 1984, just months before the city became incorporated.

Some our most exciting coverage from that era was from the election race for the first Mayor and city council positions. The Log plans to remain a voice for the community as Destin moves into the future.

Weigh in on nude dancing in Destin
Should the city have settled with The Oasis?
No. Under no circumstances should a strip club be allowed to open in Destin.
No. I think the city could have negotiated better terms.
Yes. I don't want nude dancing in Destin, but the city can't legally ban strip clubs.
Yes. Bring on the half-naked women!
I don't care. A strip club won't last long in Destin.
