Market features items from around the world

The Presbyterian Women of Fort Walton Beach’s First Presbyterian Church will host their ninth International Craft Market in room 2 of the Fellowship Hall at the church, 134 Beal Parkway, SW in Fort Walton Beach. The Market will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 7, 14 and 21 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 10, 13, 17 and 20.

This is not a fundraiser for the church. The prices of the items are set by SERRV. For 60 years SERRV has been the direct link between those who attend markets and thousands of poor, but highly skilled, craftspeople around the world who are helping themselves with their creations.

Those who buy at a SERRV Market will immediately become part of a global partnership to bring justice and hope through their purchases. Customers value traditional artwork over mass-produced goods and appreciate that they promote social and economic progress with their purchase. Any purchase helps provide income, dignity and hope to people in one of more than 30 developing regions of the world, including parts of the USA.

A few of the items available will be those that were most popular at the previous markets, but most of the items will be new this year. Some items to be found include decorative items, jewelry, baskets, games, musical instruments, candle holders, handmade soaps, and gourmet fairly traded, hand picked teas and coffees.

Weigh in on nude dancing in Destin
Should the city have settled with The Oasis?
No. Under no circumstances should a strip club be allowed to open in Destin.
No. I think the city could have negotiated better terms.
Yes. I don't want nude dancing in Destin, but the city can't legally ban strip clubs.
Yes. Bring on the half-naked women!
I don't care. A strip club won't last long in Destin.
