SANTA ROSA BEACH - Family members of a man found dead of an apparent gunshot wound Friday afternoon are waiting for answers as the investigation continues.
Robert Storm, the victim's namesake and oldest son, said that family members gave the Walton County Sheriff's Office information about the 60-year-old victim and that an "active investigation" continues into his death.
The 911 call came at 2:35 p.m. Friday afternoon from 72 Blue Bell Circle.
The son, who lives in Atlanta, said his father did not own a gun and was "afraid" of them. He added that the gun used in the shooting belonged to his father's girlfriend, who was at home with him at the time.
"They're not saying it isn't suicide, they're not saying it is," Storm said. "Whatever the answer is, I'm sure they'll find it."
The elder Storm owned Elrod's Fish Camp and Marina on Mack Bayou Road until a few years ago. Though his health was failing, he still spent every moment he could either on the water or working on his boats.
"That was his life," his son said. "He loved to fish. Every chance he got, he got on the water. That was his solace."
The Sheriff’s Office expects the autopsy to be completed Monday and plans to release more details after a report is submitted.
