Car Show
SANDESTIN – Grand Boulevard at Sandestin and the Destin Porsche Club will host the Fifth Annual Charity Car Show organized by the North Florida Region of the Porsche Club of America from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 11. More than 100 cars, including Porsches, Lamborghinis, Lotus, Ferraris and BMWs, will line the boulevard of the Town Center. Admission is free and will include live music from Cheryl Jones. Lefty Williams Band
DESTIN – Lefty Williams will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 11 at The Shed BBQ. The free show is for all ages.
Art exhibit: Hot & Bothered
VALPARAISO – The Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida’s new exhibit, Hot & Bothered, will be on view through Oct. 30. The exhibit features a 1930’s era kitchen with a rare Universal Electric Stove, collections of household items, electric fans dated from 1906 and advertising from days gone by. Admission is $2; free for HMNF members and children under 4. An opening reception will be held from 10 am. to noon Sept. 11.
Preludes in the Afternoon
FORT WALTON BEACH – David Ott will perform a program of original music, “Preludes in the Afternoon in the Fall,” at 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at First United Methodist Church. The concert is free and a reception will follow. Call 243-9292.
Red, White and Blue Celebration
DESTIN – A weekly ceremony that honors local heroes is held at 7 p.m. every Thursday at HarborWalk Village. The Highsteppers Dance troupe and other local dance teams will perform and a mini air show follows the hero's recognition. A fireworks display begins at 8:30 p.m.
American Legion
DESTIN – The Destin American Legion, 311 Main Street, is open to members and guests from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, with entertainment from 7 to 1 p.m.; and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays. Call 837-3818.
Movie night
FORT WALTON BEACH – A free movie, “UP!,” can be seen at 8 p.m. Sept. 18 at Uptown Station. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and coolers. (No pets or glass containers.)
Destin Seafood Festival
DESTIN – The 32nd Annual Destin Seafood Festival will set up on the Destin Harbor at the Destin Fishing Fleet Marina, City of Destin Royal Melvin Heritage Park, and Fisherman’s Wharf from 4 to 10 p.m. Sept. 17, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 18 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 19. Headliners are Starship Starring Mickey Thomas on Friday and Loverboy on Saturday, along with favorite regional acts throughout the weekend. In addition to great music, attendees may enjoy fresh local seafood from some of the area’s restaurants, browse through arts and crafts booths, win prizes from the Florida Lottery, and more. A kids’ area, complete with rock climb, inflatables and more, will entertain the younger crowd. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Destin Fishermen’s Fund.
Admission is $5 on Friday and Sunday, $10 on Saturday, and $15 for weekend passes. Children under 12 are free. Admission bands are on sale and may be purchased at the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce, 4484 Legendary Drive, Suite, or from any festival admission gate. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Destin Fishermen’s Fund.

The Destin History and Fishing Museum will provide parking for Destin Seafood Festival visitors for a donation of $5 per car. Parking will be provided at the two parking lots adjacent to the Museum’s 108 Stahlman Ave. location behind What-A-Burger on U.S. 98. Alan Laird of AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar is donating the use of his lot in support of the Museum. Parking spaces will be available from 3 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17, 9 a.m.to 9 p.m. Sept. 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 19. Each car parked will receive a coupon for one free admission to the Museum and a $5 coupon redeemable at AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar.
Parking will also be available at St. Andrews By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 307 Harbor Blvd. Park in the front lot for a $10 donation and in the back lot on Mountain Drive for $5. Lots will be open from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 17, 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 19. Bottled water will be available for $1. Proceeds will help fund the church’s outreach ministries in support of the homeless.
Via Colori
SANDESTIN – The 13th Annual Via Colori will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 18 at Grand Boulevard at Sandestin Town Center. All proceeds benefit Seaside Neighborhood School. Enjoy live music as artists paint on the streets. To participate, call 231-0396. Art supplies, lunch and goodies are provided for artists.
Fundraiser
MIRAMAR BEACH – The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation will host a wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at Carrabba's Italian Grill, 10562 Emerald Coast Parkway W. Ticket prices are $50/Foundation members and $65/not-yet members and does not include gratuity. Make reservations at 650-2226. Limited to 30. All proceeds will benefit the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s educational programs and cultural events in Okaloosa and Walton Counties.
ECWR Haunted House, ‘The Dark’
FORT WALTON BEACH – Uptown Station will host the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge’s Fifth Annual Haunted House Oct. 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, and 28-31 in the old Riviera Fitness Store. Opens at 7 p.m. until all are scared away. Admission is $7.
