Man with tire iron beaten by unarmed target

DESTIN - A man left injured in the parking lot of Club Overboard had a tire iron in his hand - because he'd tried to beat someone with it, witnesses said.

Gustavo S. Pereira, 33, of Anna Street, is charged with aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill.

Witnesses said Pereira waited outside the club after an altercation inside. When his opponent came out about 30 minutes later, Pereira attacked, according to his arrest report.

The unarmed victim defended himself and knocked down Pereira, injuring him, a deputy said.
