Destin's Grace Lutheran helps feed children in the Philippines

Thanks to Grace Lutheran Church in Destin, children and their families in the villages of Admiral and Dumpsite in the Philippines were able to enjoy a special feast with pasta noodles with meat sauce, rice, mixed vegetables and a peanut butter sandwich.

Fely Zapanta, Mission Love Seeds coordinator in the Philippines, and her family (pictured) stayed up all night preparing the meal then delivered it to Admiral for everyone to share. The next night, they cooked again for a meal to be served in the villages of Galilee and Pantay.

The children prayed and stood waiting patiently for their “treat” to be served.

Grace Lutheran also fed five villages after the typhoons in September.

Mission Love Seeds founder Barbi Carroll said the pasta noodles, tomatoes sauce and peanut butter were purchased here at Sam’s Club in bulk sizes because of the low prices.

“We are able to feed all five villages with the church’s gift,” Carroll said. “It was cheaper to purchase some food here, ship the food and still save.”
